KENYA  is a country in East Africa whose capital is Nairobi.

 

It is known for its wide variety of animals, landscapes and  tribes.

 

It is officially formed by 44 ethnic groups. The main ethnic groups are the Kikuyu, Luo, Luhya, Kamba, and Kalenjin.

Meaning: "Kenya"  is named after Mount Kenya. In some local languages, it means "luminous mountain".

Area: 580.367 km2

Population:  56,2 million inhabitants

Official languages: English and Swahili

Capital: Nairobi

Life expectancy: 67 years

About KIBERA

KIBERA is the largest slum* within Kenya and the second largest in Africa.

 

It is an informal settlement located in the suburbs of Nairobi.

Meaning: forest or jungle

Population density: +2,000 people per hectare  

Slums: marginal neighborhoods with little access to basic services.
